A rather eccentric and atmospheric watercolour of an Indian paddling out to a British ship, entitled Catamaran, Madras. By the well known Scottish artist William Simpson who traveled to India to do a series of illustrations for a portfolio and visited Madras in 1859. Slight foxing.
